Another life is a bit like Eric Rohmer trying to make Truffaut: it does not really work, the melodrama remains too corset, restrained, despite the emotionally fine play of Jasmine Trinca, extreme sobriety of a JoeyStarr to counter-employment and the usual excellence of Virginie Ledoyen (thanks to the film-maker to remain loyal to this superb actress underemployed).
Not a coincidence if the best scene of the film is the most mouretienne: the one where Virginie Ledoyen, retired in a convent  , Administers a cruel lesson of couple and love to Jasmine Trinca. There, there is an incisive dialogue, an intensity of the scene, a force of incarnation too evanescent in the rest of the film.
Please help.
